A Lamp's Many Faces
This is UNHEALTHY CO-DEPENDENCY. The confusion of their pairing is distracting from the individual strengths of each. I’m suggesting a trial separation.
The obvious visual connection here would be to a camera tripod used to take a group photo on a school trip to Quebec City or whatever, but when I look at this lamp my mind immediately thinks of a woman in the 50s sitting on a street car with her legs crossed and a pillbox hat propped on her head.
I don’t know who I’d be if I wasn’t charmed by a lamp like this, but it’s time I take a stand and acknowledge how pointless they are. Of course it is cute, and visual appeal isn’t worthless in furnishings, but lamps have a higher purpose. They are here to serve our need of The Light. And thick lampshades like those above do very little to carry The Light.
See this lamp falls on the other side of the spectrum — the human eye isn’t meant to gaze upon lightbulbs this directly. AT LEAST give us some kind of tint on this glass.
Baby lamp, never shone.
This lamp reminds me of when you’re working in food service and you have to say “behind!” to alert them as you squeeze behind them, making your mid-section as small as possible so as to respect their personal space.
